Taiwanese cellist Yoyo Wu Deng Kai makes his debut performance in Singapore with Heartstrings – the Music of Anita Mui, a concert dedicated to legendary singer and actress Anita Mui’s canon of hits.
Get ready to be captivated by Yoyo’s unique take on Anita’s classics – from her very first hit 《心债》written by Joseph Koo 顾嘉辉, to《胭脂扣》by 黎小田 Michael Lai, the eponymous theme song of the movie “Rouge” for which Anita won a Golden Horse Award for Best Actress, the beloved《似水流年》by Japanese composer Kitaro喜多郎,《抱紧眼前人》by George Lam 林子祥, and 《情归何处》by Anthony Lun 伦永亮.
The concert will also feature some of Anita Mui’s hits by some of Taiwan’s best songwriters. These include《女人花》by Preston Lee李安修, 《亲密爱人》by Johnny Chen小虫, and 《似是故人来》written by Luo Dayou罗大佑.
Besides performing with various orchestras, Yoyo has performed at the Golden Melody Awards, Golden Bell Awards, and Golden Horse Awards, and collaborated with stars the likes of Jiang Hui 江蕙, A-Mei 张惠妹, Stella Chang张清芳, Valen Hsu许茹芸, Michael Wong 光良, Penny Tai 戴佩妮, Hebe田馥甄and more.
Yoyo has amassed fans from all around the world with his engaging and emotional performances. His YouTube channel @yoyo_cello has more than 86,000 subscribers. Each video gets hundreds of thousands of views, with his most popular video reaching more than 1.2 million views.
Yoyo will be accompanied by pianist and arranger Wu I Ling吴宜玲 for this one-night only concert.
