Selena Gomez Apologized after being Accused Throwing Shade at Hailey Bieber

Who would’ve thought a GRWM video could cause such drama? That’s probably the question that popped off on Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber’s thoughts. It feels like the world isn’t yet getting tired of linking Selena Gomez with Hailey Bieber. As we all probably already know, people seem to cannot leave Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber in peace since they both had a history with the famous pop singer, Justin Bieber. 

This new drama began on May 10, 2022 (local time), where Hailey Bieber (then Baldwin) uploaded a video of herself getting ready or commonly known as a get ready with me (GRWM) on TikTok. A few hours later, Selena Gomez also uploaded a video with the same concept as Bieber’s and without taking too much time, people assumed that the hidden intention of Gomez’s video was to mock Bieber.

As shown in the screenshot above shared by a Twitter user, the comment section of Gomez’s video was immediately flooded with assumptions and hate speeches towards Gomez. However, Selena Gomez quickly clarified that she had no bad intentions, namely, being sarcastic or throwing shade at Hailey Bieber, as she was accused of. She also apologized if she triggered such a dramatic fuss and gave a bad impression of the video.

Both Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber always react quickly all this time to shut down the rumors between them. They are not friends, but they are not on bad terms. According to E News, on Gomez’s Instagram live back in 2019, she said that she never liked the way how women throw each other down. “Please be kind, I don’t like seeing people being disrespectful or rude to other people, so please don’t do that”, said the 29-year-old singer.

Hailey Bieber, who always wants people to move on and leave her alone, has talked about this matter too. She hates the idea of how people can freely say whatever they want on social media. In an interview with British Vogue back in 2019, the 25 year-old model spoke about the usage of social media. “I think social media is a breeding ground for toxicity and people creating false drama between women and trying to put women up against each other and create these narratives that are just… toxic”, told Bieber.

Justin Bieber and Dan + Shay are Being Sued for Violating Copyright Agreement Over “10.000 Hours”

Several parties have filed suit against Justin Bieber and Dan + Shay. The suit claims that Bieber and the duo took the core portion of The First Time Baby Is A Holiday which was written by Palmer Rakes and Frank Fioravanti. The core portion includes the chorus, verse, and hook.

On Thursday (local time), International Manufacturing Concepts, Melomega music, and Sound Gems were among the companies who pointed out that the original song was released in 2014, five years before 10.000 Hours was released in 2019. Hence, the companies refuse to take into consideration that the similarities are purely accidental.

Both Bieber and Dan + Shay have not yet paid responses regarding the allegation that they’re facing now. The companies, who claim that they possess the song, are pursuing recognition on the track, along with money in damages, statutory damages, attorney fees — and an ultimatum averting further distribution of the song. 

The song was released in October 2019, just four days after Bieber married the famous model, Hailey Baldwin. In the music video, they each featured their wives and serenaded them in some romantic couple sets. The song 10.000 Hours has since gained some notable recognitions including two AMAs, an iHeartRadio Music Award, and a Billboard Award in 2020. Not to mention, a Grammy Award in 2021 for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

Surprisingly, this allegation is not the first time for Bieber. According to ABC News in 2016, he and the famous DJ, Skrillex, was sued by an indie-pop artist, Casey Dienel. She proclaimed that they pinched the hook on “Sorry” from one of her tracks.

2. Carly Rae Jepsen Debuted Her New Single

Carly Rae Jepsen has officially ended her hiatus. The Call Me Maybe singer gave fans a relieving fresh commencement last Friday (U.S. time)  in Coachella by performing her latest single Western Wind. Prior to Coachella, Jepsen has already thrown off a teaser about her new single last week after a two-year hiatus from music. After all, it’s no longer a “call me maybe” but a “call me back”, don’t you think?

3. Harry Styles Performed with Shania Twain and Spilled Two Unreleased Singles

One of One Direction’s ex-member, Harry Styles, wrapped up the first day of Coachella in style―of course. He performed some of his greatest hits ever since he went solos such as Adore You, Watermelon Sugar, Golden, and the most recent, As It Was. However, the singer gave a special jaw-dropper performance as he sang two unreleased singles, Boyfriends and Late Night Talking, from his soon-to-be-released album, Harry’s House. Not only that, he felt like the cherry on top would be perfect if he brought Shania Twain on stage. Yes, you read that right. Both of them shared their sweet bond as fellow artists and adored each other.

4. Anitta Became the First Brazilian Singer in Coachella

What can be more proud of than being able to represent your country in front of millions or even billions of people? Yes exactly, that glorious moment happened to Anitta last weekend. The 29-year-old singer shared the stage with some of the most well-known names in the music industry. She performed Onda Diferente with Snoop Dogg, as the two shared the single that was released in 2019. Anitta wore a selection of outfits in which the colors and patterns represented her country, Brazil. Speaking of special guests, the singer was humbled as she was given the opportunity to stand along with Saweetie and Diplo on stage.

5. Justin Bieber Joined Daniel Caesar

The R&B singer and Grammy winner, Daniel Caesar, didn’t want to miss the momentum in giving surprises to fans during Coachella’s first week. After performing his not-yet-to-be-released single Please Do Not Lean with his majestic voice, Caesar invited Justin Bieber to the stage. The two of them performed the Justice single, Peaches. What elevated the already perfect moment even more was probably the fact that Justin Bieber went shirtless with only jeans and a red hat―in our defense that it became even harder for everyone to not focus on these duo on stage.
