This poetry workshop centred on intercultural experiences is conducted by Luoyang Chen, who was born in China but now lives in Australia. Through writing exercises, he seeks to answer questions about language, the role it plays in including or excluding people in the flow and interplay of languages in the making of poetry. In reconciling memory and history in the context of one’s life, he will share his perspectives on how poets can convey social and emotional complexities through their words.
