Squid Game Won Two Trophies in Critics Choice Awards 2022!

The Korean series Squid Game brought home two trophies of the 27th Critics Choice Awards which took place in Los Angeles, California, Sunday (13/3) evening local time. This victory adds to the long list of achievements of the series that was made by Hwang Dong-hyuk. According to Soompi, on Monday (14/3), Squid Game was nominated for three Critics Choice Awards which are, Actor in a Drama Series, Foreign Language Series and Drama Series.

Of the three nominations, this series managed to bring home two trophies, the first one was from the Actor in a Drama Series category, thanks to Lee Jung-jae as the lead actor in Squid Game. The 49 year-old actor managed to beat famous names such as Sterling K. Brown in This Is Us, Mike Colter in Evil, Brian Cox in Succession, Billy Porter in Pose, and Jeremy Strong in Succession.

Lee Jung-jae became the second South Korean actor to win the award at the event. Among all the nominations in the category he won, Lee Jung Jae is the only non-English actor.

Furthermore, Squid Game also managed to win a trophy for the Best Foreign Language Series category. In this category, Squid Game managed to beat a list of other series, such as Acapulco, Call My Agent!, Lupin, Money Heist, and Narcos: Mexico.

With that being said, Squid Game became the first South Korean TV show to win an award at the Critics Choice Awards, which were rated by 500 film and TV broadcast critics in North America.
