The singer will soon release a new album

Daniel Caesar seals a new deal with Republic Records! The R&B artist says that he can’t keep both being a business person and a talented artist therefore, he intends to “keep artistry and business separate with a major label as my partner.” Previously, Daniel Caesar was signed to Golden Child Recordings, a Toronto-based label, in which he was the co-founder. As a genius artist, Caesar has achieved notable coups together with both his business and creative team, for example, winning a Grammy for Best R&B Performance for his track Best Part featuring H.E.R. Another milestone recently happened when his shared song, Peaches, with Justin Bieber and Giveon managed to reach the number one spot on Billboard Hot 100

The singer who was born with the name Ashton Simmonds previously has made it clear that he wanted to remain an independent artist. In 2020, he believed that signing to a label or intertwining your ideas with other people “would be a bad decision.” He then proceeded on to add, “As soon as you sign, you give over your ideas, your potential, to somebody else to do how they see fit. You’re no longer the big boss.” Considering some of the most vile feuds between artists and their labels, it absolutely makes sense for Caesar to go on his way.

The other day, Caesar just confirmed to Billboard that he is working on his highly anticipated third studio album, arriving three years after his top five Top R&B Albums project Case Study 01. And as the singer qualifies himself for his upcoming Coachella performance, his principle has shifted. “I did as much as I could on my own and I experienced a lot as an independent artist,” he explains. “I wanted to feel the difference of having such a large machine behind me.”

The upcoming album is produced by Dylan Wiggins (Lucky Daye, The Weeknd) and Caesar himself. “Each album, I’ve become more myself, and I’m zeroing in on what I want to say. You’ll hear more introspection, honesty and I’m playing most of the music myself,” Caesar tells Billboard. “I’ve never been in the driver’s seat more than I am now.”
